Bush's Stance On the UAE Buying The Ports
From what I gather, the UAE can't stand the jihadist's anymore than we do (uh...with the exception of the Hollywood left and their moonbattery commune), so it is hard to say if Bush is making a mistake here. Maybe it takes an Arab to catch an Arab? We going to eventually need the Muslims help....but I gotta think this decision will not go over well, going to be a tough sell. I'm sure the folks over at Democracy Frontline will have some great insight, I think there's a 15-17 hour time difference......they're in Australia.

I think it is political correctness gone suicidal.
UAE rulling elite might support US but they will not be working on the ground - other Muslims will.
I don't think is is a good idea at all.
At all.
I understand Bush's position - he is showing to the Islamic World: look you can get rewards if you are our friends and we are not against Muslims but "some terrorists".
On the other hand I don't think Bush's administration understands Islam and their concept of the state.
The idea of secular state isn't recognized by Islam.
And so to the vast majority of Muslims, rewarding a government/ruling elite of any Arabic country is meanigless.
Most of the Muslims would not recognize legitimacy of their own governments if it is not ONE Caliphate - Islamic government over all muslim lands (lands as oppossed to countries).
Most muslims want the US to stop supporting the ruling elites because they think they can overthrow the existing governments and create Taliban like regimes.
They know they cannot win a war with the US but they want the US stop supporting Pakistani, Saudi or Egyptian regimes.
By allowing UAE companies (rulling elites) having access to the American soil is to allow these hostile people penetrate the US security.
No, Bush should not withdraw American support for these regimes but also should not allow these regimes to have such strong foothold on American soil.
Joe,

Boy, after reading your post and your link to Joshua Pundit (thank you very much), this whole scenario is fascinating as it appears to be complicated.
Bush makes decisions and sticks with them, hopefully if finds something fishy, he'll change his mind.....can you say Harriet Meirs?
Thanks Missing Link.
