Danny Flores, composer of "Tequila," a huge hit for the Champs in 1958, has died. He was 77.Flores, who performed under the name Chuck Rio, lived in Westminster for years. He died Tuesday, family members said, after suffering for years from Parkinson's disease.
I was born and raised in Arizona, the 5th of 6 children. The 'rents moved here from Minnesota about 1 year before I was born. I am married to a truly beautiful Mexican girl (see archived posts for June.."How I met the Queen of Tequila). I love golf, football, most anything pertaining to Mexico, current events/politics and I have the ability to talk backwards ALMOST as fast as I can talk forwards. Now you can take that 2 ways, let's just say I do speak at the same speed/rate as any normal Joe, I even did a stint on the #1 rated morning radio show (93.3 KDKB) here in Phoenix a few years back as "The Amazing Dr. Rewind". I live in Mexico's tequila country and write about the drink from time to time - along with sipping it too - but I've never heard the song "Tequila" since moving to Jalisco state nearly two years ago.

Oh, what have you missed!! It is a given in any party in Tequila that you will get "Tequila" to dance!!!
It brings memories of my junior high years, when we performed a coreography to that song for a parade on Nov. 20th...the Anniversary of the Mexican Revolution.So much fun!!
