May 1st
"There will be 2 to 3 million people hitting the streets in Los Angeles alone. We're going to close down Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Tucson, Phoenix, Fresno," said Jorge Rodriguez, a union official who helped organize earlier rallies credited with rattling Congress as it weighs the issue.
"We want full amnesty, full legalization for anybody who is here (illegally)," Rodriguez said. "That is the message that is going to be played out across the country on May 1." Here's the article.
Uh.......pipe down George, not a very bright idea at all. It is very offensive to me and most U.S. citizens to threaten us U.S. citizens with boycotting goods and services by illegal citizens. You cannot make demands on the government and its people if you don't have a legal leg to stand on. I believe your cause will backfire. The American people are a great people, we host the most diverse group of citizens anywhere on the planet, when you make demands with threats, you're going to see us stand up and take action.
This is a critical time for the immigration process, what you and your group are doing will create an unnecessary divide between the legals and illegals. We need legal immigrants in our country, we all know the laws and system need to be tweaked, let's work together to accomplish this, not create a divide
May 1 should be a very interesting day.
This is from Michelle Malkin:
I heard from a friend of mine who's family lives in Mexicali, Baja California Mexico that Mexican authorities are shutting down the border in Mexicali on May 1st so that people who live there would not go to California casinos on that day. Apparently lots of tour buses go back and forth. If that is the case, then the Mexican government has joined the protest.
Not good.
