Hugo Boss? Maybe Not For Long

Hundreds of such leaflets have appeared recently in Montalban -west Caracas- and other parts of the city. The walls of recently opened Cardiologic Hospital for Children were covered with the leaflets according to sources. The caption reads "You'll need more than a 100 years for your treason to be forgiven by Venezuela's people. COWARD!!" The man in the picture is General Raul Baduel, directly responsible for Hugo Chavez's return to power on 13 April 2002.

What is interesting is that Aleksander Boyd at Vcrisis writes writes that Hugo Chavez will not relinquish power until, at least, 2021.

The Venezuelan Constitution allows a president to be re-elected only once in immediate succession. Chavez is eligible for re-election to another six-year term in December, but if he wins he wouldn't be able to run again in 2012.

Mr. Boyd also notes here that a poll commissioned by Chavez's campaign team "Comando Miranda" conducted in 7 regions of Venezuela, indicated that should elections be held next Sunday, Chavez's opponent Manuel Rosales, would get 72.1% of the vote, and Hugo Chavez would get 17.4%.

It will be very interesting to see if Chavez is defeated on election day this December 3
What will happen if Chavez refuses to give up power if defeated?

Check it out here. Chavez cancelling the elections is a possiblity.

I don't have much hope. I think he he'll try an open communist takeover if not re-elected.

ML,

It's unfortunate but I do agree with you.
