"I Didn't See Rednecks, I Saw A More Progressive Crowd"

This is what Dixie Chicker Martie Maguire had to say after a recent show in a 60 Minutes interview defending fellow Chick Natalie Maines' comment about GW Bush and how she was ashamed to be from the same state as President Bush.

Hey Einstein, of course you didn't see rednecks. Rednecks don't buy tickets to see an all chick band, especially a band that totally disrespects the President of the United States.

I heard most of the 60 Minutes interview, it was great, they came off like a couple of stoned Valley Girls with Texas accents.

I think their publicist needs to give these 3 non blondes a crash course in Marketing 101.......you know, know your audience. Do you really think your audience is "progressive" or, let's just cut to it, liberal? Do you really think you're going to play in front of large crowd made up of liberal country fans? You probably ought to take a page out of Laura Ingraham's book "Shut up and Sing", actually don't, keep what you're doing, maybe your CD sales will diminish to the point where you chicks are done.

Just like all of your Hollywood friends, celebrities and rockers, you mistake fame for intelligence. Says lead mouth Maines in an interview:

"I'd rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc changer with Reba McEntire and Toby Keith," Maguire said. "We don't want those kinds of fans. They limit what you can do."

Just who are these "really cool people?" What about folks in your genre like the king of cool George Strait, or Alan Jackson or Tim McGraw or The Hag? Ripping just about the 2 biggest stars in country ain't too bright there sister....the deeper you dig, the deeper the whole, keep digging!

You've got your right to free speech, why don't you follow the path of someone like Johnny Cash? He was a liberal but carried his agenda with respect, although he was against the Vietnam war, he still went there to perform for the troops.......very classy.

Their album is due out tomorrow, all indications are is that their (former) fan base is "Not Ready To Make Nice" 'cause album/CD sales are disappointing to date.

liberal country fans? Isn't that an oxymoron?

they are a walking oxymoron. :-)

Their new song is about what they encountered... hatred and narrow-minded intolerance for expressing an opinion.

In other words, it's all about them.

I saw about 10 seconds of their latest video. It was so bad I couldn't stand it!
